World of Warcraft Contemplates Potential for a Necromancer Class Inspired by RuneScape 3

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight introduces the innovative Evoker class, signaling potential for other unique classes, such as the envisioned Necromancer. Drawing inspiration from RuneScape 3’s Necromancy, this concept explores a non-coercive approach to communing with the dead, offering an alternative to morally ambiguous actions. RuneScape’s gameplay includes a system where rituals in the Underworld yield abilities using collected souls, paralleling potential mechanics for a WoW Necromancer.

Distinctly, the RuneScape Necromancer employs two distinct roles—tank and power—offering a compelling dual specialization aspect. Their cloth-wearing, soul-infused style with unique weaponries presents a potential model for WoW’s diverse class features. The envisioned WoW Necromancer could offer unique gameplay by healing through summoning spirits, a departure from existing death-centric classes.

However, challenges exist in making the Necromancer class stand out amidst WoW’s current death-focused classes. Yet, a Necromancer specializing in healing through undeath or as a supportive hybrid could diversify gameplay. Given WoW’s history with undead themes, a dedicated Necromancer class could offer a fresh perspective if distinct from existing classes, promising a unique niche in the game’s lore and mechanics.
