Hackers in Elden Ring employ new exploits, causing game crashes and applying persistent debuffs, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the game’s anti-cheat measures.

In the ever-evolving landscape of Elden Ring hacking incidents, players are now facing a new wave of attacks as hackers resort to crashing games and applying challenging-to-remove debuffs. These malicious actions are causing frustration among the player base and prompting questions about the efficacy of Elden Ring’s anti-cheat software.
Hackers have recently escalated their tactics, using exploits to crash players’ games after invading their worlds. While occasional hacking incidents have occurred in Elden Ring before, these recent attacks have become more prevalent, leaving players puzzled and concerned.
Previously, Elden Ring players experienced hacks where invaders corrupted save files or created disruptive visual effects, causing frame rate drops. However, the latest wave of attacks involves hackers crashing the game by using exploits and applying sleep debuffs that persist even after restarting the game in single-player mode.
A Reddit user shared their experience on the r/Eldenring subreddit, detailing how hackers invaded their world, applied a sleep debuff, and used a blinding flash of light that forced the game to crash. Upon reopening the game, the sleep debuff remained, requiring specific actions to remove it.
The incidents have raised doubts about the effectiveness of Elden Ring’s anti-cheat software, Easy Anti-Cheat, with players expressing concerns about its ability to counter these evolving hacking techniques. Some players have even dubbed it “easy (to circumvent) Anti-Cheat,” questioning its reliability in preventing such hacks.
In light of these challenges, players are advised to back up their save files to mitigate the impact of potential encounters with malicious hackers while playing Elden Ring on PC.
