World of Warcraft fans anticipate the upcoming expansion’s revelation at BlizzCon 2023 while gathering clues from significant leaks. As the Dragonflight storyline reaches its pinnacle with Fyrakk’s impending assault on the World Tree, speculations regarding the new expansion have surfaced, hinting at themes such as Light, Void, an untamed ancient landscape, stormriding, and intriguing “tall dwarves.”

The groundwork for these rumors emerged in the Patch 10.2 Public Test Realms, referencing Titan Keepers’ failed expeditions to the mythical Avaloren continent in Azeroth’s ancient history. Titan Watcher Perethales’ accounts of Prime Designate Odyn’s struggle against heretics on Avaloren, accompanied by Patch 10.1.5’s Titan-themed content, strongly suggest Blizzard has been paving the way for a Titan-themed expansion.
An official World of Warcraft subreddit post by Upset-Setting-501 has significantly reinforced these speculations, confirming Avaloren’s role as the new expansion’s setting. The leaked image not only suggests players will explore Avaloren but also connects the datamined Algarian Stormrider mount to the upcoming expansion through a relevant achievement. Further credence came from cinamonjackz, who linked the leaked structures’ architecture to BlizzCon props.

Notably, the Dragonflight expansion had a key art leak days before BlizzCon, highlighting the potential for credible leaks within the WoW community. Though the expansion’s title remains unknown, names like Stormbreak or Storms of Avaloren are deemed credible. The leaks suggest the Algaren could become a new playable race, resembling stone-skinned, tall dwarves available to both Horde and Alliance.
If these leaks hold true, the new expansion could introduce the capital city Khaz Algar and debut Avaloren with four playable zones. Additionally, there are concerns that new support specs might replace existing playstyles, such as Enhancement, Arcane, and Survival. The BlizzCon 2023 opening ceremony is anticipated to provide more insights, marking Chris Metzen’s return since 2015.
