Early Access Beta for Call of Duty’s Upcoming Title Faces a Disturbing Onslaught of Cheating and Exploiting

With a month left until the official release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, eager players who have preordered the game already have access to the beta. However, what was meant to be an exciting early glimpse into the game has quickly become marred by a significant presence of hackers and cheaters.
Cheaters Cast a Shadow Over Modern Warfare 3 Beta
The beta for Modern Warfare 3 kicked off on October 6, 2023, for preorders, followed by the rest of the player base gaining access on October 8, 2023. It’s worth noting that the MW3 beta is currently exclusive to PlayStation, making the appearance of hackers even more surprising and distressing.
A Reddit post by u/kingbkny exemplifies a wall glitch that enabled an opponent to shoot through the ground, a disheartening sight for a game still in the beta phase.
However, this isn’t an isolated incident. Another user, Duqysss, encountered a cheater with an unnatural level of accuracy and the ability to detect players through walls during a recent match.
While cheating on PlayStation consoles is generally considered difficult, it’s far from impossible. The primary culprits for cheating in the MW3 beta seem to be owners of jailbroken PlayStation 4 consoles, but even PlayStation 5 users are not exempt from this issue. The extent to which these individuals are willing to go, including investing in Dev Kits to gain an unfair advantage during the beta, is particularly surprising.
While Activision’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system may help mitigate cheating, past experiences with Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 suggest that it might not completely eliminate hackers and exploiters from the MW3 beta.
The MW3 beta for PC and Xbox is set to commence on October 12th. The presence of hackers and exploiters during this early phase is indeed concerning, but there is still a month for Activision and Infinity Ward to address and rectify these issues before the game’s official release.
