During the CD Projekt Red Investor Day presentation, President and CEO Adam Kiciński revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 sales have exceeded 25 million units, surpassing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in terms of performance. This announcement comes after the recent success of the Phantom Liberty expansion, which sold three million units in its first week.

Kiciński highlighted that Cyberpunk 2077 performance achieved this milestone in approximately two years and 10 months, outpacing The Witcher 3, which took around four and a half years to reach 25 million units sold. The Witcher 3 had recorded 28 million units sold in December 2019, approximately four years and seven months after its launch.
In terms of platform distribution, 68% of Phantom Liberty expansion copies were sold on PC, 20% on PlayStation 5, and 13% on Xbox Series X and S. CD Projekt Red also disclosed that the development cost for the expansion was approximately 275 million Polish Zloty (around $62.7 million), with marketing expenses totaling approximately 95 million Polish Zloty (around $21.6 million).
Phantom Liberty expansion, which was released on September 26, introduced significant changes to Cyberpunk 2077, including a new perk system, improved AI, and closure to various mysteries within the game. Players even had the option to decline the expansion’s events entirely through specific dialogue choices.
In our review, we rated Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty 9/10, noting that it marked a significant improvement for the game and its future, especially with the introduction of the 2.0 Update and the anime spin-off, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
CD Projekt Red continues to expand its offerings, and the future looks promising for fans of the studio’s games.
