While Starfield promises space exploration, the game falls short, reducing it to cutscenes and loading screens. However, a mod has surfaced to change this aspect of the game.
This Starfield mod offers players the ability to control their ship’s speed using hotkeys. In the base game, players are limited to standard flight speed, and transitions between planets involve cutscenes and loading screens. With this mod, you can attain warp speed within a star system, eliminating the need for loading screens or cutscenes during interplanetary travel.

Although the mod allows for “hundreds of times” the speed of light, it acknowledges some crude implementation issues. Adjusting your ship’s speed can help mitigate problems with planets loading too slowly, a common issue without the mod.
Currently, the mod functions only for traveling to planets within the same star system, and landing on planet surfaces remains impossible due to Starfield’s limitations. The mod’s creator hopes that the release of Bethesda’s official mod tools, the Creation Kit, will enable further improvements and integration into the game.
The accompanying video demonstrates the mod in action, but it may contain spoilers regarding certain ships. Users interested in downloading the mod are advised to back up their save files as it alters ship speeds and other parameters. As always, exercise caution when installing any mod, especially those with significant gameplay changes.
For those interested in enhancing their Starfield experience, there are numerous other mods available, and the list continues to grow with promising additions.
