Netflix has unveiled the second trailer for the anime adaptation of Uru Okabe’s manga, “Good Night World.” The trailer offers a glimpse into the anime’s world and previews the ending theme song, “salvia,” performed by the VTuber vocal duo Nornis.
The anime boasts an intriguing cast with characters like Ichi/Taichirō Arima voiced by Daisuke Hirose, AAAAA/Asuma Arima voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki, Shirō Akabane/Kojirō Arima voiced by Akio Ōtsuka, May/Sayaka Arima voiced by Aya Endo, Pico voiced by Aoi Yūki, Leon voiced by Ryohei Kimura, Sasumata voiced by Hiroki Nanami, Shigatera voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda, Hana Kamuro voiced by Rie Takahashi, and Aya Arima voiced by Inori Minase.
“Good Night World” follows the story of a powerful online game team known as “The Akabane Family.” In the game, they are a close-knit pseudo-family, but in reality, they are a broken family, each dealing with their unique problems—a shut-in older brother, a high-achieving younger brother, a disrespected father, and a neglectful mother. Unbeknownst to them, their online family provides a fleeting sense of warmth and camaraderie. They are about to discover that their online bonds are not the only things that are real.
The anime, set to stream exclusively worldwide on Netflix on October 12, explores the dynamics of this peculiar family as they battle monsters, engage with rival guilds, and aim to achieve the final objective of the game, “Black Bird.” The series takes a dramatic turn as it blurs the lines between the virtual world and the lives of the real family members.
Directed by Katsuya Kikuchi, with series scripts overseen by Michiko Yokote and character designs by Rena Okuyama, “Good Night World” promises an engaging storyline that delves into themes of faith, technology, history, and the future. The music, composed by Takatsugu Wakabayashi, adds to the anime’s atmospheric appeal. Additionally, VTuber artist Kuzuha provides the opening theme, “Black Crack.”
As the anime adaptation of Uru Okabe’s manga, “Good Night World,” prepares for its global debut, fans can look forward to a thought-provoking and immersive narrative that explores both the virtual and real worlds.
