In a recent breakdown of the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty trailer, Idris Elba hinted at a “big Easter Egg” related to James Bond. The actor, who has been a fan favorite for the role of James Bond, teased fans about the reference in the trailer.

Elba pointed out the Easter Egg at the 1-minute mark of the video. He drew attention to a stock market sign in the background of his character, which reads “DJ: 0.07%.” This clever reference clearly alludes to Bond’s iconic codename, Agent 007. Speculation about Idris Elba taking on the role of James Bond has been circulating for years, especially since the Daniel Craig era of Bond films concluded.
However, in recent statements, Elba distanced himself from the James Bond casting discussions, citing the negative reactions that arose due to discussions of race in relation to the role. Given this context, Elba’s teaser in an unrelated Cyberpunk 2077 trailer is intriguing.
Developer CD Projekt Red also revealed that Elba would be contributing two unreleased songs to the Phantom Liberty expansion’s soundtrack, both of which can be heard on an in-game radio station. The “DJ: 007” hint is likely a nod to Elba’s real-life DJ skills and his portrayal of a spy-type character in the expansion.
While the James Bond Easter Egg may not signify a future role for Elba as the iconic spy, it playfully acknowledges the enduring fan interest in seeing him in the role.
