Less than 24 hours after its release, you can count on a modder to make Armored Core 6 as upsetting as they can.
The Software has amassed a devoted modding community over the years, which has been showcasing its skills in the Dark Souls series and a variety of other souls-inspired games for quite some time. As a result, more modders have access to the series now than ever before, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that less than a day after Armored Core 6’s release, they’ve already started working to make the game as upsetting as they can.

The mod in question has removed the customizable AC you get to pilot in Armored Core 6, and has replaced it with a horrifyingly twisted version of CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This absolute abomination comes from a recent YouTube video uploaded by Dropoff, and was made in collaboration with fellow modder TKGP.
You’ll be glad to know that this film does more than just showcase the model. Instead, much to the absolute consternation of the companies on Rubicon, Dropoff sends the mecha CJ out on one of the game’s initial missions to take out an enemy AC. As shoulder attachments are seen floating in the air behind CJ at the start of the quest, it is clear that the mod does not go so far as to strap guns to his body. This does raise the possibility that mecha CJ possesses psychic abilities, which is a far more horrifying idea.
You’ll be shocked to learn that CJ has already been twisted into dreadful forms for mods, despite how eerie and subtly amazing this mode is. Even if the primary character isn’t a human, the poor guy has a history of getting inserted into games he has no business playing in. You might remember that when Stray, the endearing little game from Annapurna Interactive that allowed you play as a cat, originally came out, modders instantly set about creating CJ’s cat form, and the results were, to put it mildly, very unpleasant.
Fortunately, it doesn’t appear that you may download this mode for yourself. This little video will have to do as Dropff and TKGP don’t appear to have provided a link to the mod or published it to any websites like Nexus Mods. Actually, we should be thankful since it has already caused enough mental harm.
If this video has in any way convinced you to try Armored Core 6 and you want to learn more before jumping into Rubicon on your own, you can read our review here. Just don’t anticipate seeing any GTA heroes in the base game.
